PUL Work-Up in a Politically Hostile Environment

Session Description:

This presentation will focus on the efficient diagnosis of pregnancy of unknown location (PUL) with focus on the common pitfalls of diagnosis. We will also review conservative management, including surgical and medical approaches. The focus will be to optimize success management. Finally, protocols of methotrexate use will be reviewed to allow a clinician to better inform patients, recognize and treat side effects, and be cognizant when treatment is unsuccessful.

Session Objectives:

  1. Recognize potential pitfalls in the diagnosis of a woman with a pregnancy of unknown location.
  2. Interpret the data supporting the methods used to efficiently diagnosis an unruptured ectopic pregnancy.
  3. Integrate the known data regarding the medical management of ectopic pregnancy to optimize success rates.
