Session Description:

The COVID-19 pandemic led to the interruption of services to many reproductive health patients as well as an ongoing stressor throughout its course. Already under great stress from their fertility challenges, many have reacted with anxiety, depression and for some, maladaptive behavior. Research points to steps providers can take should another global or national health circumstance create a similar situation in the future. This presentation will review findings and offer guidance from a mental health perspective.

Session Objectives:

  1. Describe the stressors fertility patients experience during the normal course of treatment

  2. Discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of fertility patients

  3. Explain strategies for reducing the psychological consequences on patients in the event of future circumstances
