Genetic Counselors — Embryonic Mosaicism: 23 Shades of Grey

Session Description:

The detection of embryonic mosaicism is the result of significant advancements in genetic testing technology. Geared toward the clinical fertility nurse, attendees will receive an in-depth clinical look at the controversies surrounding embryonic mosaicism. With a clinical, rather than technical focus, this session will provide the fertility nurse with the foundation they need to understand and explain mosaicism to their patients.

Session Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
  1. Describe the rationale behind preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A).
  2. Review the benefits and limitations of detecting embryonic mosaicism.
  3. Summarize the difficulties of interpreting mosaic results.
  4. Respond to commonly asked patient questions.
