 Session Description
  • The session will focus fundamental male factor fertility components which are key for the REI written boards. This will include: spermatogenesis, sertoli cell function, sperm motility and structure, function and structure of epididymus, semen and seminal plasma, fertilization, capacitation, zona pellucida interaction, syngamy, and ICSI.

Session Objective
  1. Describe the anatomy and physiology of spermatogenesis.

  2. Demonstrate knowledge of the Sertoli cell and its role in spermiation.

  3. Summarize the process of fertilization and syngamy.

  4. Interpret normal and abnormal fertilization checks in the embryology lab.
