Planning Through a Pandemic
Thank you for your interest in applying for a scholarship to attend the PCRS 2021 Annual Meeting. At this time the PCRS 2021 Annual Meeting is planning to be an in-person event, but we want you to know your safety, and the safety of all attendees, remains our top priority.
While the PCRS 2021 Annual Meeting will not be canceled, it may become necessary at some point for the format to change (online/virtual). The specifics of the scholarship awards are dependent on the format of the meeting, but may include airfare, registration fees, a transportation allowance, and a sleeping room based on double occupancy. Please note awards are dependent on funding.
We appreciate your understanding and willingness to be flexible while we work within the limitations set by our obligations and the current pandemic.
The scholarship application form includes a question about your willingness to attend in a virtual/online format, should it become necessary. If possible, we would like you to say “Yes” to that option so we can be better prepared for either an in-person or virtual format for the meeting.
Thank you again for applying for a scholarship, and thank you for your patience during this complex process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do I need to apply?
A: Basic information will be requested of you on your scholarship application. You should also be prepared to upload a letter of nomination. Please see the next question for additional detail on the requirements of the letter.
Q: What does my letter of nomination need to include?
A: You must attach a letter of nomination on official letterhead from your fellowship chair, department head, or faculty that includes the following statement:
“This nomination is made with the full understanding that the nominee shall attend the PCRS activity for which the scholarship has been awarded for the full schedule of the event starting on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, and ending on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at noon. Failure by the institution to allow the nominee appropriate time for travel and attendance of the event will not only void the scholarship for this nominee but will jeopardize applications from others from this institution.”
Q: I don't know if I can attend the full schedule of the meeting. Am I still eligible for a scholarship award?
A: A scholarship application is submitted with the full understanding that, if awarded the scholarship, your attendance for the full schedule of the event starting on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, and ending on Sunday, March 7, 2021, is required. Failure to allow the appropriate time for travel and attendance of the event will not only void the scholarship but will jeopardize future applications from others from your institution.
Q: I do not know whether or not my abstract will be accepted for presentation at the 2021 Annual Meeting. Should I apply for a scholarship any way?
A: Yes. PCRS scholarships are not awarded until all abstract assignments have been determined. You may submit your scholarship application in advance of those decisions being made.
